FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly will I receive my appraisal report?

Most personal property appraisals are completed within 5–7 business days of the inspection. Rush delivery (3 business days) is available for an additional fee. We will confirm the timeline when we issue your fixed quote.

Do you appraise items remotely, or do you need to inspect them in person?

For most personal property, we conduct in-person inspections to ensure accuracy and defensibility. Remote appraisals are available for items with clear provenance and market data (such as recent auction results or retail pricing). We will discuss the best approach during the quoting process.

What if I only need a few items appraised, not an entire collection?

We appraise single items and partial collections. Our fees are based on scope, not volume. Whether you need one dining set or ten pieces of furniture valued, we will provide a fixed quote upfront that covers your specific assignment.

Will my appraisal report be accepted by the IRS for charitable donation deductions?

Yes. Our reports are prepared to USPAP standards and meet IRS requirements for qualified appraisals under IRC Section 170(a)(1) and Form 8283. We include all required documentation and appraiser credentials so your deduction will withstand scrutiny.

What is included in my appraisal fee?

Your fee covers the full appraisal process: preliminary consultation, in-person inspection, market research, report preparation, and delivery of a USPAP-compliant written report. Travel within Madison and Dane County is included. Any additional travel is quoted separately.

Can you provide an appraisal for insurance purposes?

Absolutely. Insurance appraisals are a core service. We prepare detailed descriptions and valuations suitable for homeowners, fine art, or specialty insurance policies. Our reports document condition, provenance, and current fair market value to ensure you have adequate coverage.
